FHP Arrests Pensacola Woman in Connection with Fatal Crash

Investigation Continues into Pensacola Woman's Involvement

Woman Charged with DUI Manslaughter, Leaving Scene of Crash

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) has arrested a Pensacola woman in connection with a fatal crash that occurred on Friday night. The woman, 23-year-old Sarah Jones, has been charged with DUI manslaughter and leaving the scene of a crash.

The crash occurred on Interstate 10 near the Pensacola city limits. According to the FHP, Jones was driving a 2019 Honda Accord when she rear-ended a 2016 Toyota Camry. The impact of the crash caused the Camry to overturn, and the driver, 52-year-old John Smith, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jones fled the scene of the crash, but witnesses were able to provide a description of her vehicle to the FHP. Troopers later located Jones at her home in Pensacola. She was arrested and taken to the Escambia County Jail.

The FHP is still investigating the crash. They are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has any information about it to contact them.
